There are some amazing plants out there with real (super)powers but do you know how to harness them? The Alchemy Bar workshop at Six Senses Krabey Island in Cambodia teaches the basics of herbalism so you can try it back home.
Throughout history and across cultures, plants have been used for food, shelter, clothes and medicine. We depended on them for survival as they nourished our bodies and boosted our minds.
Herbalism (herbal medicine) has also been at the root of traditional medicine from earliest times. Why not reignite your connection with the natural world and learn about the power of plants at Six Senses Krabey Island?
Skilled spa therapists will guide you through a variety of locally-sourced ingredients and products in the Alchemy Bar workshop. You will feel their textures, smell the wonderful aromas and create your scrub, herbal poultice or steam bundle. You can also learn how to make these wonderful potions and cures to carry on the good work back home.
The authentic Khmer Salt and Herb Scrub will get the glow back in your skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. Your experience starts at the Alchemy Bar workshop during which you will blend Kampot sea salt with local Khmer herbs and aromatic essential oils. Dead skin cells are buffed away with dry body brushing before the scrub is applied to the body to stimulate your circulation. This experience concludes with the application of a nourishing coconut oil.
If you aren’t blessed with an outdoor vegetable garden, herbs come with an additional benefit: there is no kitchen too small, or windowsill too crowded, to stop you from growing them. Mint, rosemary, basil, coriander and parsley all grow well, even indoors. Just make sure you grow the plants from seed or buy them from a reputable supplier to ensure they have not been fed with pesticides or fertilizers. And remember to talk to them. Seriously. It can help them to grow faster!
