Holistic approach to wellness

Six Senses Duxton opened on April 15 in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown, at the crossroads of modern business and traditional influences. A property highlight is the traditional Chinese doctor and medicinal herbal dispensary.

Make an appointment with our resident doctor to get to know more about Traditional Chinese Medicine. You can learn about herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage (tui na), exercise (qi gong), and dietary therapy. The latter includes a recommendation of remedies to improve overall wellness.

Healthy food is very different to our modern food choices. It is based on energy principles to encourage balance, aid digestion, build immunity and keep the body free of disease. It’s a matter of prevention over cure, and for this we all hold the key in our hand, known as “the forks.”

During your consultation, you will learn about the four properties of food – hot, warm, cool and cold – as well as the healing effects of the five flavors. Certain types of foods are more beneficial to your health at different times and depending on your condition and body type. You will also receive advice on a few types of food to avoid or add into your diet, and how to supplement with acupuncture or herbs, which are available in the dispensary.
